VAFA Update

May24
2009
Written by crackers

After having some involvement in the VAFA competition over the last two years, The Modern Game has been interested in the results to date in A Grade. Yesterday we headed down to watch a much improved DE LA SALLE take on last years A Grade Runner-up COLLEGIANS.

What we saw was an impressive De La Salle outfit. Whilst they haven’t added alot of new faces, the young, inexperienced talent of the past two years (who have stuck together through lean times) have come of age and are playing an exciting brand of football.

The game was a great spectacle for the impartial supporter and whilst it was a ‘tug of war’ for two and a half quarters, De La Salle were able to break the game open just before three quarter time and then went on with it in the last quarter.

This game re-confirmed to us the importance of developing young talent.  Part of the The Modern Game business philosphy is based around the “education and development” of players as opposed to always looking to recruit “ready made” players.

Whilst The Modern Game does not “favour” any particular clubs, congratulations must go to the current coaches at De La Salle on the way they have educated, developed and promoted the young talent at the football club.
