A few weeks ago, Trevor Mellington (Development Manager from the Central Murray / North Central Malle Football Region) invited The Modern Game to Swan Hill to conduct a Coaches Development Night.
The session topics included Tackling and Team Tactics and on arrival at Tyntynder Football Club, we were welcomed by coaches ranging from Juniors through to Seniors. At first the guys were a little reserved but they soon relaxed; questions were asked, ideas were shared and Andy and I walked away commenting on the passion the group had and the way they embraced the information we presented.
At first we went out on to the ground to run a session on tackling techniques and associated drills. This was followed by a BBQ and then we headed up into the social rooms for a presentation on team tactics and we had the coaches play out some various scenarios on the footy mat.
Andy and I would like to thank Trevor Mellington, and everyone that attended, for their positive feedback, support and hospitality on the night and we wish you all the best for season 2010.
